1. Is ScriptMagic a translation tool?

No, ScriptMagic is not a general text or document translator. ScriptMagic is Localization Solution for Windows Application, Web Application and Websites/Portals.

2. Do I have to make any changes in my code to use ScriptMagic?

No. Localization using ScriptMagic does not require any change in source code.

3. Do we have to provide you the source code?

No, we do not need the source code of the application to carry out Localization.

4. How does ScriptMagic work?

ScriptMagic works as a layer between your existing application and the presentation layer (user interface or web page). ScriptMagic uses a manually created Phrase Substitution List/Dictionary to carry out the Localization.

5. At what speed ScriptMagic carries out conversion?

The conversion is carried out at such a high speed that the user does not realize that the conversion is external to the original application.

6. Do you use a translation engine for obtaining the target language terms?

No, professional translators from the requisite domain create the Phrase Substitution List/Dictionary. This results in absolutely accurate translation.

7. Can the OEM / reseller create the Phrase Substitution List/Dictionary?

Yes. ScriptMagic solution is supplied with a Dictionary Editor for this purpose.

8. How do you collect the source language phrases?

ScriptMagic has an option of logging all the source language phrases that are sent to the presentation layer. When ScriptMagic is run with this option, it keeps on collecting all phrases while the main application navigation takes place. When this navigation is complete, log file contains almost all phrases used by the application.

9. Do we get exhaustive list of phrases through this process?

No. Error messages are not fully captured. Since not all variations of errors may occur during simple navigation, hence such phrases may not get collected. These phrases are required from the application owner.

10. Does ScriptMagic allow data input in the target language?

Yes.

11. Do your provide translation service?

Yes, but only as a part of our ScriptMagic solution: for creation of Phrase Substitution Lists/ Dictionary. We are not a translation bureau.

12. How much time is required for completing Localization using ScriptMagic?

Generally 1-6 weeks, depending upon customization required, size of the application to be localized and the variety of development technologies used for creation of your application.

13. What happens if the corresponding entry in the target language is not

found in the Phrase Substitution List/ Dictionary?

ScriptMagic displays the phrase in the source language.

14. If a string is repeated more than once in the application,

do we have to translate it for each occurrence?

ScriptMagic produces a list of unique phrases only. This list is called the Phrase Substitution List/Dictionary. This also ensures that the cost of translation is reduced drastically since there is no repetition of the phrases in the dictionary even though it repeats in the application.

15. Do you convert captions, buttons, drop downs?

Yes, every display element is converted

16. Do the reports also get converted?

Yes.

17. Which are the languages ScriptMagic can handle?

Localization can be done into any language provide it is supported on the client machine (by Microsoft or in some cases by 3rd party vendors) and the application can store data in the target language (Unicode storage is a must for CJK).

18. How does ScriptMagic help in the data input in the target language?

ScriptMagic switches the data entry to localized language. ScriptMagic can also provide keyboard drivers for data input in languages that are not supported by Windows.

19. What are cost implications?

Total Cost of Localization (TCL) using ScriptMagic is always lower than conventional method. Moreover, your upfront investment can be much lower since ScriptMagic is also available in run-time licensing mode. This way, you spend less than 10% of your estimated TCL (using conventional method) upfront if you choose ScriptMagic.

20. Can ScriptMagic also convert a Web Application, Website or a Web Portal?

Yes, ScriptMagic can localize and internationalize all of these.

21. How does one verify the quality of translation?

Translators of high repute in the required domain are deployed for specific translation assignments, that too after proper due-diligence. Elaborate QC process ensures high quality.

22. What is the licensing model?

The licensing model is usually mapped onto the licensing model of the application to be localized. However, there exists a flexibility of evolving a licensing model suiting specific requirement.

23. How do you provide support?

Support is provided telephonically or through remote login while under warranty or AMC. Onsite support is as per separate SLA.
